ObjectiveTo evaluate the effect of dapoxetine on the sexual dysfunction in patients with erectile dysfunction (ED).
DesignRandomised controlled trial.

ParticipantsSeventy patients with ED who are aged between 18 and 65 years old were randomly assigned to receive either dapoxetine (n=60), sildenafil (n=30), tadalafil (n=24) or placebo for 6 weeks. After the 6 week study, data from the patients who were not randomized to placebo and who had been taking sildenafil for 6 weeks were collected.
Main outcome measuresThe primary outcome measure was the percentage of patients experiencing sexual dysfunction at the end of the 6 week study.
